Three Former Mother LA Execs Become Significant

In what seems to be a trend in 2025, Simon Bruyn, Jesse Unger and Romain Naegelen have departed the agency to start their own called SIGNIFICANT, an agency that like every other new agency aims to do more than advertising — whatever that means.

Jesse Unger, most recently head of strategy at Mother LA; Romain Naegelen, who was a partner and managing director of the agency; and Simon Bruyn, formerly co-executive creative director at Mother LA. Since leaving the independent agency in late 2024, they have been in super secret mode building their new agency.

Before they joined Mother LA, Unger, Naegelen and Bruyn like many many LA creatives passed through the doors of the storied agency TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles. The trio’s work for Mother LA included campaigns for brands including Postmates, Sonic and Gwyneth Paltrow’s company Goop.

Since one cannot start a new agency with highly paid (former) big ad agency executives without clients, Significant comes out the gate with wearable technology company Whoop, which makes products such as fitness bands.

Unger, Naegelen, Bruyn and their small team of strategists are working with two other clients, home products company Parachute and tech brand Native Union, known for making accessories like chargers.

Awwww. See how happy they look?
