Cheil NA has hired Cedric Devitt as its first chief creative officer for North America. That can’t be right? Cheil NA hasn’t had a CCO before? Well that explains a lot of things.
It’s wild to believe that Cedric would jump “ship” from SPCSHP after being their CCO and Partner of the agency for so many years but I’m guessing Cheil dropped a metric shit ton of cash on his immaculately trimmed salt and pepper beard so he couldn’t resist. After all daddy needs another yacht. Get that bag playa.
He said he “aims to transform Cheil from a traditional agency into a more agile and dynamic creative organization, broadening its scope beyond conventional advertising work”. If anyone has worked at Japanese or Korean agencies, you know how insane a task it is to change these legacy agencies. The jumping on the AI bandwagon is obvious but let’s see if he can actually do it, he’d be the first in history. Good luck!
