The agency founded by the late great Ari Weiss announced that they will be ceasing all operations. The agency was founded by Ari in January 2024 with partners Colleen Leddy (chief strategy officer), Cristina Reina (chief creative officer), and Dan Gonda (chief executive officer). He served as founder and creative chairman.
QE burst onto the scene with some good work for Shutterfly and Tonal and seemed to be on a great path of indie agency stardom the likes of a Mischief or Rethink.
I don’t know Ari as well as his partners but shuttering the agency that represents a lifetime of grinding at network agencies to finally start your own seems counter to what Ari stood for. I like to think that Ari would like QE to continue to do great work and provide the kind of creative culture that many of us spent a lifetime of searching for. But again, I don’t know the inside story here.
Prior to launching QE, Weiss held top creative roles at Omnicom creative network DDB. His resume also includes agencies such as BBH, DDB, Wieden+Kennedy, and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
He died in February after a prolonged fight with cancer. He was 46.
